A Pharaoh Abroad - Saturday

16.8.14

Saturday

Today we had to wake up early as our plane was due to leave at 9.00am. We all had a rushed breakfast before the taxi took us to the airport. Whilst we were waiting Shakira and Bonnie bought a yellow whale called Custard. Soon it was time to board the plane that would take us away from our beloved Thailand to Europe, freezing cold Europe.

On board the plane Dad and I watched X-Men, The Last Stand, which was full of action, mystic powers and creatures. We also enjoyed watching Mr Peabody and Sherman again. When the meal came Dad and I had beef stew (Dad and I only ate it because we were so hungry as it was really disgusting). Afterwards, Dad and I sensibly decided to have a nap. After we woke up we watched some more TV. Before long we were landing in Helsinki with our ears popping.

However our plane was a bit late so there was no time to linger. We quickly ran to our gate and boarded the next plane. Dad and I were shattered so we had a nap. When we woke up, Dad and I decided to read for a bit. Suddenly we saw Manchester piercing through the clouds and I thought to myself ‘home sweet home’.

When we arrived there was a taxi waiting for us to take us home. As we opened the door of our house, Dad and I knew that from then on there was a big fat year to wait.

A Pharaoh Abroad - Fare well

15.8.14

Fare well

Today, before the taxi was due to come for us, we went swimming. Dad and I performed that last flop we would accomplish this year. We also had races; Dad beat Shakira twice in the backward paddle and the helicopter. Isaac and Super came first as they won three races. Dad and I came second winning two races and Shakira and Bonnie came third with one race accomplished.

Sadly the taxi was soon ready to take us to the airport. Whist we were waiting for the plane to Bangkok, Dad and I were crying. When we boarded and took off the last thing we saw was the Big Buddha winking at us as if reassuring us that next year Koh Samui would be the same. On board the plane Dad and I were drowning our tears and emotions by reading our book. Soon our meal arrived but Dad and I avoided eating it as it was unholy as a devil (it was disgusting in other words). After the crew had taken away any eaten or uneaten meals, Dad and I had a nap. Soon we arrived in Bangkok, when we were landing Dad and I could see the busy roads where the cars looked like ants. Finally our plane docked in the airport.

When we were ready a shuttle bus took us to the Novotel as we were staying there overnight. When we arrived we checked in and went to our room. For a while we watched TV. Dad and I had a refreshing bath before going down for dinner.

Dad and I had some soup which was very spicy. We also had some pork and shrimps which we had to take out of the shell which was fiddly but scrumptious. For pudding Dad and I had some macaroons, I love them and so does Dad as they are very sweet and crispy. We also had a wee taste of the restaurant’s homemade ice cream, which was delicious. Soon we went to bed as we had an early start in the morning.

A Pharaoh Abroad - Our last full day

14.8.14

Our last full day

After breakfast we had a beautiful seawigs parade. We had photos taken and we posed. (Well I did everyone else just stood there and gawped at the camera.) Shakira and Bonnie won overall as we all thought theirs was brilliant. For their prize they went down to the village for an ice cream. Jani thought to treat the rest of us we should go for a massage and lunch to which we all agreed. Liam was soon there to take us to Choeng Mon.

At Choeng Mon we went to the massage parlour. Isaac, Jani, Ned and Super had foot massages. However Dad and I differed from the rest as we had a full body massage. There was some soothing music to create a peaceful mood. When we came out Dad and I were relaxed. We thanked the ladies and went on our way to Ning’s where we all enjoyed a light lunch of chicken wings and fish cake - DELICIOUS! Soon it was time to go home as we had to pack.

Whilst my Dad’s parents packed for us we watched a movie, Smurfs Two. It was really good and funny. However near the end the movie started glitching so we switched the TV off and went swimming until we had to get ready for our last night in Koh Samui.

Yet again we went to the Orchid/Ning’s. Dad and I had noodle soup with shrimps in. I ate all of the shrimps before Dad even knew it. After everyone had eaten we all said a heartfelt goodbye to Ning. We were all very sad as we would leave all our friends and loved ones behind so we all said a quick goodbye to avoid crying. Soon we got a taxi home with three crying Sea Monkeys and three crying parents!

A Pharaoh Abroad - Farewells!

12.8.14

Farewells!

Today Jill was due to leave Koh Samui. So everyone was in a very sombre mood. After breakfast Dad, Isaac, Jani, Super and I went back to the Big Buddha to cheer ourselves up just before we were to meet Jill in Chaweng CF.

When we got there we all decided to have a drink. Dad and I had Lipton Ice Tea. It was very refreshing as we had been in a very humid car for ages! We then had a quick wander around. We also looked at the Coca Nut Monkey shop, Dad and I ended up getting hooked on a 50% off sale with a big Island with a few monkeys crawling on the trees. I loved it! Jani also bought a few swirly tops. After everyone had had their turn at looking at what they wanted we all got a taxi to CF.

Once everyone had assembled at The Kitchen we all ordered our choice of meals. Dad and I shared an oriental Pizza with Spicy Sausages! While we were waiting Joss and Jill started talking and I played hide and seek with Super, but guess who would always find me and cheat Super as he would use his X- Ray vision to find me! When our pizza arrived Dad and I saw how big the pizza was. Finally we gave in as it was far too big. We then got a taxi to Choeng Mon beach for the Rambling Isle competition.

We went to the Karate café and while the adults swigged a cuppa in their ageing hands, the six of us little ‘uns made our Rambling Isles. Dad and I used a dead crab and a big rock covered in sea weed. We then placed pink petals all over the top of it to make it look like Koh Samui. Our finishing touches were some beautiful shells and our monkeys on top. When it came to judging it came to Jill and Ian. Dad and I had won the best prize for best representation of Koh Samui. Isaac and Super won Best Island made out of thrown away objects, and Shakira and Bonnie won the most Fairy like. Ian then stated the overall winner. For a moment we all held our breath then the words came. Isaac and Super cheered and were joyous. For our prizes Jill gave us her love and got us an Ice cream and a drink. Isaac then had a heat stroke which is very serious. So after Jill sadly departed we all went to Tesco Lotus for Isaac to cool down.

After Isaac returned to normal the three of us Ned, Isaac and Dad had a haircut. When Joss came out he looked like a punk. I didn’t like my new Dad so to show me that he wasn’t a completely new Dad we all went to the arcade. After a few rounds of Dad and I thrashing Shakira and Bonnie on the Karate game we went for dinner at Bo Phut.

When we got there we ate at the Happy Elephant. Joss said he could imagine Jill sitting at her chair chatting through the night. I told him the truth that she wasn’t there she was gone. Joss slowly and forlornly nodded his agreement. For tea Dad and I had prawn cakes and rice, yum. However Dad didn’t eat much as his appetite had gone and I agreed with him knowing how he felt. As we slowly munched through a prawn cake we saw Jill’s plane take off. We could see how the wings sliced through the air like a knife to a loaf. After tea we sadly travelled home only three more nights!

A Pharaoh Abroad - How to Train your Elephant

11.8.14

How to Train your Elephant

Today Sak took everyone to Waterfall One, including Jill to meet the Elephants. Soon we had arrived and we all jumped out of the van bursting with excitement! We got the tickets for the seven of us to go Dad, Isaac, Shakira, Ned, Super, Bonnie and I, as the adults were a bunch of cowards!

I was so excited as I had heard of these majestic mammals however I had never come face to face with one so proud until this day, this was my chance. Dad, Isaac, Super and I were sharing a big male one with huge, intimidating tusks. Shakira, Ned and Bonnie shared a female Elephant. We soon departed our last glance back was of Bonnie clutching hold of Shakira tightly. Lost in their embrace their elephant slowly departed and trundled into the jungle. I was amazed as it was so high up, I felt dizzy and nauseous as the elephant slowly lumbered forward through the jungle swinging to and fro. Super was equally amazed as me or more. As all he knew was fame and admiration, however it seemed that the tables had turned rapidly with the tame beast in Super’s sight for he showered all the admiration he could muster upon it. As the trek was nearing the end the last thing we all saw were the small huts in the distance.

We all met back at the elephant boarding platform. Ned, Shakira and Bonnie arrived a few minutes after us. Everyone was really happy especially Jill, as she enjoyed seeing her loved ones happy.

Sak then took us to the Mummified Monk. We were all really excited as we respectfully walked into the mesmerising shrine that was built in memory of the Monk. The Monk however was not what I expected. Where were his bandages? Why was he still wearing clothes!? All I saw was a body encased in a see-through case. If this is what they called mummified 'Pathetic!' I thought!

After the terrible display we all decided to go for lunch at a restaurant on the beach. Dad and I decided to have King Prawns BBQ. Jill agreed that it was a good choice. While we waited we all played on the beach. Dad and I practiced making a Rambling Isle on the beach as we were going to have a competition soon to see who could build the best Rambling Isle. After we had finished we were called back to the table. Dad and I then learned how King Prawns had earned their title as they were huge. I had one and Dad had the last one. Dad and I loved them. Soon everyone had eaten their fill so we asked Sak to take us all home. After Sak had dropped Jill at her hotel he dropped us off. Ian then paid him and we all stated our thanks and pleasure at being in his company.

Afterwards Dad and I went swimming performing the odd flop here and there. We all watched dventure Time for a while, whilst we were waiting for M to pick us up (M is Liam’s Son.) When he arrived we asked M to take us to CF.

Dad and I ordered chicken, when it came I was startled at how big it was. It was very salty and peppery. Dad and I just ate it all. P.S. Dad did most of the work. Still I have to admit it was very tender meat, actually I loved it, thumbs up! Soon everyone had finished. So we decided to have a little wander. We ended up buying a few DVDs and walking back to CF. Soon we got a taxi home.

A Pharaoh Abroad - Takeaway Meals!

10.8.14

Takeaway Meals!

It was a lazy day today. So we stayed in the villa, Dad and I went swimming and played Poseidon’s Wrath. This is where you splash each other and sink each other’s boat (which is you.) We also played canon ball. Super and I came joint second but Isaac won with his eye watering performance.

After lunch Dad and Isaac played some Super Hero card games. This is where you have a set number of cards each set containing Hero cards or they could be villains. So the opponent/you will either say these elements; Intellect, Skill, Fire blast, Strength and Speed. They will then state 0/10 if you have a higher number then them you win and take their card, however if you lose you will give them your card. If it is a draw you put the two cards in the middle and whoever wins the next card will also win the ones in the middle. You keep playing until someone has no cards left or surrenders. NOTE: Give cards you won back to opponent for next game or keep them if they let you.

After some swimming and TV we all tucked into a takeaway for tea. So Isaac, Dad and I ate outside in the Sala. We had chicken sticks and egg fried rice. I really enjoyed my first takeaway.

A Pharaoh Abroad - Peace and Quiet!?

9.8.14

Peace and Quiet!?

Today after breakfast, Dad and I went swimming. Yet again, we enjoyed performing the flop. I really was engrossed in my swimming so I didn’t hear Liam coming, ready to pick us up and take the five of us Jani, Dad, Isaac, Super and I to Tesco Lotus.

When we got there, we were all very thirsty, especially me! So Dad and I shared a Sprite at Coffee World. I think it means Spirit, I’ve never had a Sprite. They were not especially popular back in Ancient Egypt, but the world changes sometimes for the best, however sometimes for the worse.

We also had a visit to the Arcade for Super. Isaac challenged Joss at the karate game again, however it seemed Joss’s choice of character was not the best last time as Joss beat Isaac twice in a row. You could tell how Isaac was grumpy afterwards! But when we had lunch at a Japanese restaurant he was very happy. Isaac had BBQ squid and I shared some spicy, yet delicious, noodle soup with Dad. We also had some pork in it although it was disgusting, even Dad thought so. Afterwards Isaac had a haircut. When he came out he looked like a baldy as he had been shaved at the sides!

Liam then picked us up and took us back. We stated our thanks and asked him to pick us up at 5:30pm. Whilst we were waiting we all watched Free Birds, it was really funny.

Soon Liam was ready to pick us up. All of the family came. We also picked up Jill at her hotel. We had dinner at Anong, another restaurant in Choeng Mon. Dad and I just had rice and starters, the starters were chicken wings, chicken sticks, prawns and fish cake. I ate most of the prawns they were delicious. Everyone then talked and talked the night away. Dad sat happily on Jill’s lap as content as a dog with a bone. We then all decided it was growing late so we all said good bye and agreed to meet up another day.

A Pharaoh Abroad - Nathon

8.8.14

Nathon

Today Sak took us to Nathon. On the way we saw palm trees swaying in the breeze to and fro. We also saw the sea winking at us as if saying “welcome back to Nathon”. We also saw all the fascinating ships and ferries docked at the Harbour.

We had breakfast at our usual café in Nathon. Dad and I shared some eggs, sausages and bacon. Dad kindly left me the eggs. I loved the bits I had!

Afterwards we all looked around some markets. Jill happily bought us some new Lego figures, eeeeppp! Jill got Dad and I Captain America, Batman, and Aquaman. Dad and I were really grateful. After everyone had had their turn looking around the markets, we went back to the meeting point to meet back up with Sak. We asked him to take us to a beach restaurant.

After we had reached our destination, yet again Dad and I chose crab, however BBQ this time. Whilst we were waiting all the kids played on the beach, yay! Dad and I built a fort near the water. Alas the waves won as they breached the walls and destroyed the castle! By the time our sand kingdom was breached it was time for lunch. I loved my crab, however it was very hard to eat as Dad and I kept having to break the shell to get the tasty morsels inside. After our fill of our meals we all said our thanks and farewells to the waiters and asked them to give our compliments to the chef. Afterwards we asked Sak to drop us all off where we belong; Jill her hotel, us our villa.

While we were waiting for Liam to pick us up. Dad and I went swimming and diving, yip eeeeeeh! We also did the flop, this is where you stand near the water’s edge and just stand there and lean forward to drop in, its lots of fun! Before we knew it Liam was ready to pick us up. Just the six of us Dad, Ian, Jani, Isaac, Super and me, of course, Liam then picked up Jill at her hotel and then dropped us off in Bo Phut.

For tea we went back to the Happy Elephant. Before this though, Dad and I bought a serpent made out of ropes twisted and knotted together. I thought to myself how clever it really was, they can also be bended and moved

At the Happy Elephant Dad and I ordered Pad Thai. While we were waiting Isaac and Dad played a game of Super Hero cards. Isaac won, like always! When the food arrived Dad and I could smell the unwavering spices emanating from our Pad Thai. Dad and I loved it and still cherish the taste in our mind, it was delicious! After tea we all had a wander through the markets. Many a time we stopped and looked but we never bought anything until Jill bought a hat for us. Dad and I got a Superman hat and Isaac got a Batman hat, which is confusing I thought it should’ve been the other way round. Any way we were very happy with our new hats. So we celebrated with a pancake, yay! Dad and I had chocolate, honey and sprinkles on ours (what? It’s not like we’re on a diet or something... YET!). Dad and I really enjoyed ours. While we were eating we watched an exotic Dragon Dance. I loved how they roared, twirled, twisted and fluttered their eye lashes. Their colours stood out strong and bold against the dark night sky making the area around them look like day. After we had seen this beautiful and refreshing dance, we all said our farewells and parted our different ways.

A Pharaoh Abroad - A Pro at Swimming!?

7.8.14

A Pro at Swimming!?

Today after breakfast while we were swimming, Dad learned how to swim without any equipment! I was very proud of him! He was also proud with himself, go Dad go! We all then got into the jacuzzi to cool off. Super started flirting with Bonnie by blowing bubbles shaped like her, he even had the cheekiness to make one of him and her holding hands. Dad says I’m jealous and that I like Bonnie! I was outraged so I stormed out of the jacuzzi to be a civilised person unlike those idiots!

After I had cooled down and had a breather, we all happily went to Coffee World in Tesco Lotus. Dad and I shared some delicious ham and cheese sandwiches, yum. Joss then challenged Isaac at a Karate game. Joss embarrassingly got thrashed by Isaac by a kick to the head and a knee to the stomach, HARSH!

After a swim in the pool we went to Jill’s BBQ night at her hotel. Dad and I shared mixed meat. While we waited, we went on the beach eeeping and screeching wildly. Dad and I had a leisurely stroll down a strip of land. When we got to the end we saw the sun in all its glory painting the sky red and orange as it set winking at us as if saying “sleep tight tonight I’ll be back”. It was the most beautiful and inspiring moment I can recall. After the event we were called back to the table heaped with steaming plates of delicious food. While we were eating we met a local cat called Meow. Dad and I gave her some food and she happily gobbled it up until the service people shooed her off, poor cat. Afterwards we talked the long night away killing time.

A Pharaoh Abroad - Gold or Paint?

6.8.14

Gold or Paint?

Today Liam drove us to the Big Buddha, a sacred part of the Monks’ religion. When we arrived there I saw how the sun winked off the statue and how it glowed and shone. We paid Liam and stated our thanks and entered the Holy Palace of the Monks.

But before that we had breakfast at a little café just around the Big Buddha. Dad and I had two eggs and some sausages. I was just able to stomach the meat as I’m not a big fan of meat. While we were eating we saw a group of fisherman wading waist deep in the deep sea.

Afterwards we all entered the sacred place. Whilst we were there we got a blessing from a Monk for good luck all year round. He asked us where we came from and I of course informed him that I am the 8th Wonder of the World. The Monk also gave us all a beautiful wristband.

We then walked up the big staircase leading to the Big Buddha. We also rang the bells, it was so fascinating as we all listened to their own unique sounds. There were pure, small chimes and big, booming chimes. I loved it, so did we all.

We poked and peeked around the markets. While we were waiting for our taxi driver Liam, Dad and I bought some elephants for our friends back in cold and wet England! Dad also bought a monkey key ring saying Koh Samui on it for his best friend Ben. Soon Liam was ready to pick us up and take us home.

Dad and I went swimming. Bonnie finally got into it so we all started splashing at each other and had a great time. We then went inside and watched a movie called Injustice Gods Among Us. Super loved it, so did I but I wasn’t going to say it in front of Super!

Liam came to pick us up, just the six of us again as Shakira was tired. What a shame, Dad and I thought. Dad, Isaac, Jani, Ian, Super and I all clambered hurriedly into the taxi.

Liam dropped us off in Choeng Mon. Before we had tea we decided to look in a shop where Dad and I got Bulk a Lego Giant. We decided to go to The Long Table as it was fast becoming one of our favourite restaurants. Dad and I ordered King Prawns! Sizzling Hot! When our meal came they set it on fire we loved it as it had a very hard kick of taste.

After we had finally eaten we went to the floating market. There were soap stalls which smelled like heaven and many a toy stall dotted here and there. But what caught Dad’s and my attention wasn’t the fancy soap stores or the dazzling toy stalls it was the delicately carved statues. Soon after a wonderful night out hand in hand, Liam took us back to our villa.

A Pharaoh Abroad - A Day for Relaxation Only!

5.8.14

A Day for Relaxation Only!

Today was a quiet day. So we all relaxed - yes that’s right, even Super! It seems that there were no mermaids or seamaids in distress to save, but personally I knew he was lying . . . he was bored! In the swimming pool we all splashed each other but Super cheated as he used his force field to protect himself. Soon the game had exploded into an argument, so Dad came over to us to sort it out and he told us to chill, so we did.

Everyone then sat around the TV to watch Primeval I loved it (but it was a bit scary.) Tonight we met up with Jill in an Italian restaurant in Chaweng. Dad and I ordered Linguine. While we were waiting Dad and I read The Shadow of the Hawk. I loved it, we were closing in on the end and managed to finish it that night.

After a while our food arrived. Dad and I loved it as it had prawns in it. After everyone had finished their meals we said our thanks and went outside.

For a while we looked around at the markets however nobody fancied buying anything. So to finish the night in a good light we all went to a café. Shakira, Bonnie, Isaac, Super, Dad and I had a Kid’s Heaven. It had earned its name as this was what any kid could ask for! I loved it and so did all the kids. We then got a taxi back to our villa.

A Pharaoh Abroad - The Aquarium

4.8.14

The Aquarium

Today, after breakfast, Sak, our favourite taxi driver, took us the Aquarium. On the journey we saw bars and cafes opening up just in time for the long gruelling day ahead. We could also see the sea as the sun reflected off it like a moth is attracted to light. My eyes couldn’t pull away from the sea’s menacing glare.

When we arrived we decided to have a drink. Dad and I had lemon flavoured Lipton Ice Tea, yum refreshing! Soon afterwards we wandered into the Aquarium. We bought some fish food to feed the fish. Dad and I gave some to some fish on the way in.

In the Aquarium it was as if you were under water as there were so many different species of fish, from the cute and beautiful clown fish to the dangerous and deadly reef shark. Yet all were captivating in their own unique way.

There was also a big cat section. I was so outraged at what they did to them, as they were locked up so tightly with just enough room to move their weary legs. Their eyelids were drooping as if their eyes were weighed down or as if they were drugged. They also kept an endangered and rare snow leopard under lock and key when it should taste the sweet nectar of victory over a wild prey bought down time and time again.

As I was getting too angry, my dad and my family made haste to the restaurant for lunch on the beach. Dad and I yet again had Pad Thai, and then we went rushing onto the beach. Dad and I made a sand rambling isle we called it Cliff Junior. We were then called back to the table. Dad and I did not like the Pad Thai so we didn’t eat much. After everyone else had finished their meal we all made our way to the Sea Lion show.

As we sat down the audience grew and soon the show started. I was amazed how the Sea Lions clapped and whooped at their own performances and their colleague’s performances. They also jumped through hoops and bounced balls on their noses, it was fantastic! At the end of the show everyone stood up and clapped their hands and applauded, showering their admiration down on the tamed beasts. The last thing of the show was when they all clumsily took their bows.

Afterwards we all got a picture with a cute little tiger cub. Ned though had a picture with a big female. I was scared he might get hurt but he didn’t. Soon it was time for the last and final show the Bird and Tiger show, ta daaah!

I loved how the birds rode bikes and flew round and round causing wave after wave of dizziness. However my favourite event was when they pecked off a little boy’s hat. However, he wasn’t agreeable and started crying.

I was disgusted at what they made the tigers do, jumping through flaming hoops, climbing over suspended pieces of rope at the height of around four metres! I was gladly relieved when they released the poor beasts. Sak then took us home to our villa.

Dad, Jani, Ned, Isaac, Super, and I got ready to go for dinner, whilst Shakira and Ian stayed behind.

Our taxi driver Liam took us to Choeng Mon. We met up with Jill at the Long Table. Dad and I had blue crab delicious! It was lovely and spicy, it’s definitely better than some plagues, yuck! For dessert Dad and I shared a banana flambé. It was so cool how they set fire to it! It was really sweet and fresh. Isaac and Super thought flambé was a funny name and giggled and repeated the word in a girlish voice whenever it was mentioned.

A Pharaoh Abroad - S.O.S!

3.8.14

S. O. S!

Today the bakery was closed! So we all waited for Kate to take us to the big mall in Chaweng. We had found out it was called Central Festival. But I’ll call it CF for short. On the way there we saw a bird singing contest. We saw a big crowd crowded round the eager competitors and who wouldn’t be. The winner would earn at least 50,000 baht! Dad and I thought whoever wins would be a lucky man but secretly Dad and I were rooting for a little red bird. His voice was as high as a giggling sea monkey.

Soon we had stopped at CF. Before we went for Brunch though we went for a quick look around CF. It was amazing we hadn’t had a grand tour last time as we had hurriedly rushed into iBeat and we had hurriedly run out. There were toy shops, clothes shops and many things to catch your eye. After around thirty minutes looking we finally settled down to have brunch.

We decided to venture to the place we had been previously, The Kitchen, we really liked it there. Dad and I yet again shared Pad Thai. It was a bit too spicy for me, but hey, it was still AWESOME!!! Ian and Jani had meat stuck on a stick even the thought of it made me retch. I had just enough stomach to eat some meat last night. Still it was the best brunch ever (well, the only brunch I’ve ever had). We soon grew weary of the big lights and busy streets in Chaweng and headed home.

Dad and I went swimming again as we loved the water, while we waited for our taxi driver from Choeng Mon as he was going to pick us up early as we were meeting Jill at her hotel for dinner. Soon he arrived and we learned that his name was Liam. Jill was there to greet us at the hotel. She showed us the way to her restaurant. It was also near the beach. After we had ordered our food and drinks we went rushing excitedly onto the sand.

There was also a little play area on the beach, Eeeeek! So Dad and I and the rest of us little ‘uns went playing for a while. Soon we were called to the table. Dad and I had prawns in chilli paste. Jill had tiger prawns and happily gave us one. While we were eating we noticed the Big Buddha lit up by a thousand lights as if it was having a tremendous party lit up in all its finery. The sea looked beautiful as the last rays of the sun shimmered and shone brightly. Good night, Koh Samui.

A Pharaoh Abroad - A Quiet Day

2.8.14

A Quiet Day

After breakfast, as it was a quiet day, Dad and I played with our Lego. We were also forced to watch the Bratz movie by Shakira and Bonnie. I believe it was the most entertaining movie I’ve ever watched. We also watched a Batman movie for Super’s sake. When Bane came up Super started sneering and booing. We soon looked at the time as we noticed that it was nearly time to meet up with Jill in Choeng Mon.

Tonight we met up with Jill in The Orchid to have dinner. Dad and I had a mocktail called the Pink Lady - I loved it! For starters Dad and I shared some chicken wings I only had one but managed to savour the taste with that one small bite. Dad, Ian and I shared two big main courses, the first one barbecued ribs and the other spicy shrimps. We all enjoyed them, however, I did not have any meat so I stuck with the shrimps!

After we had said our farewells and thanks we all parted our different ways. Ours lead back to our villa, Jill’s back to her hotel.

A Pharaoh Abroad - Nathon

1.8.14

Nathon

In the morning after breakfast Dad and I went swimming again to kill time before Sak was to pick us up and take us to Nathon, a large settlement with a ferry port and many markets. Soon, just on cue, Sak was ready to pick us up and take us to Nathon. We also picked up Jill. On the way I saw the odd business man dealing with an unsatisfied customer and the many bars and restaurants setting up for the big day ahead. I also saw the ferries docked in the harbour dwarfing the small fishing boats around them, casting their shadows across the sea giving the ocean a dark and sinister look.

We thanked Sak and asked him to wait for a few hours. We all agreed that a drink was to come first so we found our regular café in Nathon and had a drink. Dad and I had a Vanilla Milkshake. It was very refreshing a lot better than rock pool water. Afterwards we looked around a market. Dad and I bought some Lego figures and Shakira and Bonnie bought a beautiful dress. After a while we all got thirsty again. So we went to an art café. I had a milkshake in a beautiful cup.

Afterwards we met back up with Sak and asked him to take us to a restaurant. Sak cheerfully proposed a restaurant by the beach so we agreed. At the restaurant Dad and I had spicy crab yet again as we loved it so much last night. For a while we played on the beach. In the time before our food came we managed to bury Shakira in sand along with Bonnie so they both looked like Mermaids. Soon the food arrived. Dad and I loved the food as it was so spicy. Jani even allowed us to keep the shell off the crab. I was so happy and so was Joss. After we had filled ourselves with the treasures of the sea we said goodbye and thanked them all.

We asked Sak to pick us all up later at 6:00pm. He explained that his friend, King, would pick us up and take us home. While we were waiting Dad and I went swimming again and the minutes soon rushed by. After everyone was dressed just on time King arrived ready to take us to bustling Bo Phut. We were soon in Bo Phut. King then dropped us off and we thanked him and asked him to come back a 9:00pm.

We all hopped off and looked around Bo Phut and all the markets. Dad and I bought some more Lego figures, yippee! We then went to a restaurant near the beach for dinner. Dad and I enjoyed some Pad Thai. The shrimps were fresh and delicious. Dad and I also loved the taste even more when we put some chillies on. Soon everyone grew weary and exhausted so we picked up some candy floss and went home. At home Dad and I finished off the night with some pink milk and some candy floss. Soon we were drifting into Dreamland.

A Pharaoh Abroad - iPad

31.7.14

iPad

In the morning after breakfast Dad and I went diving in the swimming pool. We had a whale of a time until Super started using his powers to make us go super slow in the races! I was so outraged that I asked Isaac to keep his (NOT SUITABLE FOR KIDS UNDER THE AGE OF 13+) stupid sea hound under his leash.

After we were swimming we took a taxi to a big Shopping Centre in Chaweng which had just opened. The reason we had come was to look in ‘i beat’ for an iPad Mini. However they did not have what we wanted which was a shame.

After the disappointment we all decided to go to Tesco Lotus to look at the ‘i beat’ there. But before we went, we went to a restaurant called The Kitchen in the big Shopping Centre. We all enjoyed a light lunch Dad and I shared Tom Yum Gooeng a spicy soup with prawns. I loved it and so did Dad. I believe it is Dad’s favourite meal. After everyone had had their mouth watering meals we left and made progress to Tesco Lotus.

On the way in the taxi I saw tourists walking and stopping, looking and prodding and all the markets bustling, but what grasped my attention the most was the proud coconut trees waving as if examining the tiny midgets walking by.

When we arrived we paid the taxi driver. After looking around the store we finally decided to buy an iPad Mini GB 32. I don’t know what that means but it sounds good! The money from my Dad’s art competition helped to buy it. After the exciting shopping spree we got a taxi back to Chong Mon to finish the day in a good light.

We had dinner at the Long Table. Dad and I shared Crab in chilli paste I loved it as it was so spicy and seasoned. As we were eating and chatting the night away I wondered where we were just mere days ago! Soon everyone had demolished their meals when we got home, Ian texted Sak our most treasured taxi driver to pick us up in the morning.

A Pharaoh Abroad - A Day Out

30.7.14

A Day Out!

Today after breakfast I swam in the swimming pool with Joss again. After a bubbling hour or so in the pool, Dad, Super, Isaac, Jani and I went out for a special day.

We visited the Sala Hotel for a drink and a little run around the beach and there to my joyful realisation there was sand! I was so happy that we celebrated with a drink yum eeeeeeh! I loved the vanilla milkshake nearly as much as my Egyptian gran with her sunken eyes and gum less jaw. Oh and those big glasses. I certainly love my Gran her name is Mrs Seawreakbottombooo.

We slowly made our way to the Orchid as everyone was to meet there. We all thoroughly enjoyed a drink at the Orchid. Super, Bonnie and I found a very energetic toad. To my utter amusement Super kissed the toad on the lips thinking that it would turn her into a beautiful Princess however Super learned the hard way that it was not to be. We then went to Akbar an Indian restaurant. We all had our meals. Dad and I chose Tandoori Chicken, well Dad basically did all the thinking! So reluctantly I ate a smidgen of the meat however it was more of a plateful. After this we went to the Floating Markets. Dad and I however just looked around whilst Shakira and Bonnie decided to buy a beautiful necklace decorated with a Crocodile tooth. I soon grew weary and fell asleep in my Dad’s arms. When I woke up I was tucked up tightly in my bed nice and snug.

A Pharaoh Abroad - Friends!?

29.7.14

Friends!?

For breakfast my Dad and his Dad, Ian, went to a bakery and bought some croissants and pastries. We then walked back to our villa and enjoyed them. I personally loved them.

We had a lazy day so all we basically did was enjoy ourselves, have fun and most importantly swim! Well except for Bonnie and Super as Bonnie was locked up in her own room as she is the shyest and Super was off saving Sea Maids in distress. After a relaxing day in we all went into Choeng Mon to see friends and have dinner.

At night we went to the Orchid and saw Ning busy and working. When she could spare us some time we caught up with each other’s lives. After we had eaten we looked around at some shops and market stalls. We learned, however, that one of our friends Joe had moved on. We found a bar and had a nice refreshing drink. Soon it was time to go home so we caught a taxi and went home.

A Pharaoh Abroad - But a Lotus is a Flower!

28.7.14

But A Lotus is A Flower!

After we had breakfast we got a taxi to Tesco Lotus. As soon as we got there we happily looked in the shops. Dad and I couldn’t help to peel our eyes off a really cute ginger bread man. We then looked around Tesco Lotus. We bought some food and got a taxi back to our villa.

We went swimming for a while. I’m glad to say that I did not encounter any of the sarcastic seaweed. I remember once when I saw a bunch of them and they pointed and jeered at me shouting “Hail the Prince of Nile!” and then one would point out and call back “NOT!!!” and then they would all laugh.

Soon it was time for dinner so we met up with Jill at Zico’s, a very expensive Brazilian Buffet. When we were seated we were showed the starter bar. Dad and I had some Minestrone soup. It was deliciously and tropically fantastic. We also had some very tender meat which included pork, chicken and duck. But I’m not really much of a meat fan. Therefore I did not eat much. We had a chat and caught up with each other. Jill soon said goodbye and departed and so did we. We waited for a taxi driver we were acquainted with very well, Kate. Kate soon picked us up and dropped us off at our villa. Dad and I had some pink milk for our bed time drink.

A Pharaoh Abroad - The Journey Continues

27.7.14

The Journey Continues…

When we woke up we all enjoyed a bit of breakfast. Then we got a shuttle bus back to Bangkok Airport as we were catching a plane to Koh Samui. While we were waiting for Shakira, Bonnie and Ian, we looked around. We walked past many shops but the one that caught our attention was a big toy shop. This was when we had a new addition to our already overwhelming family. His name is Ollie. Ollie is a cute little whale. Soon we met up with the rest of our family who looked rosy and cheery, the heat of Thailand already affecting them. When we arrived at the Gate we showed our boarding passes and passports and boarded.

On board Dad and I read some more of The Shadow of the Hawk as it was a great book. We were there before we knew it. The air was hot and humid like Egypt. After we had collected our luggage we were taken to our villa. It had a big swimming pool. Isaac, Shakira, Dad and me went straight away into the pool, Whoooo Hoooooooo!

We then went to the Happy Elephant for dinner and met up with an old friend called Jill who is from Australia and she is the Godmother to my lucky father Joss. After we had chatted and told our tales we departed and announced our pleasure to be in each other’s company. We then went back to the villa and went to sleep.

A Pharaoh Abroad - Bangkok

26. 7. 14.

Bangkok

We landed at Bangkok Airport and I was overwhelmed with happiness and joy. Once we had checked in and gone through immigration and security we had a wander and stretched our legs. We then caught a shuttle bus to the Novotel near the Airport as we were staying there the night because our flight was the day after.

The Novotel was a grand place. There were shops and restaurants dotted everywhere. A man greeted us at the door and took our heavy luggage and allowed us to keep our hand luggage. Afterwards we checked into our room and had some breakfast. Dad and I shared a pain au chocolat. I loved it. I think the very first dish of its kind to find its way down my throat in a long time.

After we had eaten our fair share of food we went upstairs to look at our rooms. Dad and I got a suite! Eeeeek! I was so excited. We all had a nap as we were all tired and jet lagged.

Afterwards we went downstairs. Dad bought some macaroons as he is addicted to them. Personally I prefer sea weed soup but I didn’t add my wig worth. We had lunch at one of the buffet restaurants. Dad and I shared crab meat wrapped up in a crab head shell. NOW THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT! After we had gorged ourselves on crab meat we all decided to go swimming well if Dad, Isaac, Super and me count, that’s everyone. I love water and the sea as you see I come from Egypt. You may think that I lived in a posh stuck up pyramid or mansion. I lived in the Nile well obviously I’m a Sea Monkey. Yes that’s right I’m the Prince of the Nile the 8th Wonder of the World. When a few hours were up we went back to our room and watched a smidgen of TV.

We all soon grew hungry. So we all went down to the buffet. Dad and I had a bit of everything. Some prawns and some soup and even I dread to put this down… MACAROONS! Right I need to say sorry. I could see how my father adored them as the crispy sugary layers were so lovely and sweet and the icing inside was interestingly tantalising. Soon we needed to go to bed so we all floated off to dreamland.

A Pharaoh Abroad - The Journey Begins

Introduction

Hello, diary my name is Mummi. I am from Egypt. Some people call me Prince of the Nile and I might even be the 8th Wonder of the World. Well enough about me more about my family. My Dad, Joss, adopted me at the Manchester Children's Book Festival. There are also my two uncles, Ned and Isaac, my only auntie Shakira and my two favourite Grandparents, Ian and Jani not to mention Bonnie and Super (the mischievous Sea Monkeys).

The Journey Begins

Today we have taken a taxi to Manchester Airport. I was so thrilled and excited and so was all my family especially my Dad who has a deep regard for Thailand.

As soon as we got there we had to check in and then to get through security, we had to get in a long queue.

Finally we made it past security and into a big area full of restaurants and shops. We had to have some breakfast before we boarded so we went to a favoured family restaurant, The Giraffe, and I came to understand why as the food was so scrumptious. After we had filled ourselves full of food we ran quickly to our gate where we showed our boarding passes and then we were off.

On the plane Dad and I had a little nap and then set about reading. My Dad read me a book from a series called Wereworld the author is Curtis Jobling. The book we were reading is called The Shadow of the Hawk. We enjoyed reading a few chapters of it. This plane only took 2hours as our destination was Finland. Once we arrived and got off the plane it was about 3:00 in the afternoon. Our plane was set to leave at 5:10 and take least 10:00 hours.

Whilst we were waiting we had some lunch which consisted of two bowls of soup, a few packets of crisps, a baguette and a few drinks which came to a whopping £60 pounds which Dad and I thought was ludicrous. Therefore we weren’t happy! After this it was time to rush to the gate and just about managed to board the plane in the nick of time.

On board the plane we saw how the buildings and houses of Finland grew smaller and smaller until they were just minuscule blots on the horizon as we soared through the air. While the plane seemingly made painful progress Dad and I watched a few movies. Our favourite though was Mr Peabody and Sherman which I personally thought was hilarious. It was about a Dog called Mr Peabody and he adopts a boy called Sherman. For his birthday Mr Peabody creates a time machine called The Way Back. We also watched The Lego Movie where a boy uses his imagination to the fullest and creates a whole Lego world of his own. We also watched a few cartoons.

When we were served dinner, Dad and I couldn’t eat it all as it was disgusting! Afterwards, Dad and I watched a few more movies and then we had a nap, one which was desperately needed as when we woke up we found that we were landing.
