Pre-school

A New House For Mouse by Peter Horacek

Pre-school all enjoyed this story. Mouse finds an apple but it will not fit into her house. Children experimented with fitting an apple into a cardboard house we had recently made, but the apple would not fit. Mouse continues on her journey to find a house in which to fit her apple (in the mean time she is also taking a bit of her apple along her way). To link with the fruit getting smaller, pre-school experimented with, and discussed, shapes, space and measures. As the mouse is eating the apple, it eventually fits into her house. Whilst enjoying this fabulous story with lots of exciting props, the children also enjoyed a slice of mousse apple at the end.

It was a great reading experience enjoyed by all including the staff.
